A Day In: Rothenburg de Tauber

Earlier this month we hit the road for a brisk, sunny visit to Rothenburg de Tauber.

First stop, Spielplatz Hornburgweg, located adjacent to the city wall, next to a parking lot (and restroom!) so the boys could play and ride their scooters. Afterwards, we entered town via the still standing wall and stopped for warm drinks and snacks at a local bakery. From there, we headed off on foot/scooter to explore the Rathaus, Marktplatz, Georgbrunnen, Schmiedgasse and Reiterlesmarkt. For lunch, we headed to Trattoria Pane e Vino and stuffed ourselves with pizza and salad. Post lunch, we climbed the city wall catching incredible views of the city before heading home.

Tip: When climbing the city wall with small children, take care to mind them/hold their hand for the duration as the wooden railing openings are wide (see family photo above).
