The Music Jar

My family and I began our first Music Jar at the beginning of 2022 and boy, what a treat it is. Reminiscent of our family participation in Music Class in St. Louis, I came across the idea from A Beautiful Mess and jumped at the opportunity to widen our music pool.

Throughout the last few months of 2021 Mark and I created a list on my Notes app to get us started. Now when we come upon new genres/artists, we simply add them to our jar.

Each

week or so, the boys select a new artist from the jar and we play it while at home on our Sonos and in the car.

New songs join our repertoire so quickly I had to create a Spotify playlist (I also add songs as we come upon them from movies, etc) to keep all our favorite tunes in one place for on-demand play. At current, our six year old loves to listen to “Yellow Submarine” on repeat, while our three year old is holding a weeks-long streak for “Good Mood”.
