A Few Of My Favorites (Summer) Edition

food + drink

Creating our own faux shake shack was such a neat way to have people over and try something different with regards to the hamburger and fry. Then, as fate would have it, I've had the opportunity to go to shake shack in Chicago twice. Even Mark agrees their cheese fries are legit.

Food Truck Friday always tops our summer list and I'm sure after the babe is born will continue. It's such an easy walk from our house, we can bring the dogs and it makes for a super simple gathering spot to catch up with friends via picnic. Summer in the city is the best.

From my kitchen: This carbonara is divine, flemish beef stew has become a slow cooker favorite, roasted tomato pasta (coming soon!) was a easy yet flavorful weeknight meal, stuffed meatballs (coming soon!) are wicked easy, and the birthday dinner (pictured above) my husband prepared?!  Have mercy.

It goes without saying finding out we were expecting was the highlight. Other favorites include a summer jammed packed and not short on vitamin D -- an outdoor screening of jaws on art hill and Whittaker music festival lent themselves to ideal picnic nights, chardonnay 5k with a group of new friends to celebrate Angie's birthday, and a small town 4th of July with our family.  Seeing Meghan Trainor was dancefest, Kevin Hart was side splitting funny and a local drag show replete with Champagne was a perfect girls night out.

Oh, Summer...
