Act Like A Lady
Steve Harvey, known for his LOUD suits and hilarious nature penned "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man", subsequently made into a movie awhile back with a great cast if I do say so myself. Hilarious, down to earth, and engaging, the movie made me run out
Returning to the dating world last year was daunting - I'd forgotten how to, and more importantly was intimated by the sheer thought. Dating is not picnic - and being out of that world for so long had me imagining visions of myself in a convent with a vodka bottle.
My takeaways from this book were that it applies to EVERYONE - regardless if you are in a relationship, looking for one, reeling form heartbreak and searching for answers to make peace.

Highlights:
- Men are defined by three things (their mindset):
- Who he is
- What he does
- How much money he makes
- How to know when he loves you:
- He professes his love
- He provides for you (emotional, etc)
- He protects you
- Three things men need:
- Support and Encouragement
- Love
- "Cookie"
- "We need to talk" petrifies men (because they assume they did something wrong) and sends them into fix it mode (which is part of "provide").
- "A man ALWAYS wants something". Period.
- "Boys shack, men build homes" - are you a sport fish or a keeper?
- The 90 day rule
- Five questions to ask yourself (then him):
- What are your short term goals?
- What are your short term goals?
- Views on relationships - family, children, parents, God
- What you think of me?
- How do feel about me?
Although it wasn't a "page turner", it held my attention, gave me poignant, real life situations to ponder, and forcing me to do a spot check on just what I'm willing to do in/for a relationship, my morals, deal breakers, and requirements.
