Dessert, A Childhood Favorite

One of the fondest memories from my childhood is celebrating birthday dinners. We'd gather on Sunday at my grandma's house -- and as far back as I can recall I'd always request my Aunt Reba's four layer torte.

Every. Year.

She "retired" the recipe years ago, gifting its most faithful consumer (me!), so when I stumbled upon this old favorite while my mom was visiting one day I took that baby-free time to reminisce on my childhood as I prepared one of my favorite treats.

Four Layer Torte

Layer One:
1/2 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Crushed Pecans
2 TBSP Sugar
1 Cup Flour

Grease and flour 13x9 pan. Mix dough together and press into pan. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes. Cool.

Layer Two:
1- 8oz pkg. Cream Cheese
1 Cup Cool Whip (I use a whole container)
1 Cup Powdered Sugar

Beat ingredients then spread on cooled crust.

Layer Three:
3 Cups Milk
2 pkgs. Milk Chocolate Instant Pudding

Beat ingredients and spread on top of cream cheese mixture.

Layer Four:
Cool Whip (I use the whole container)

Top pudding mixture with cool whip. Chill for 12 hours before serving.

Best enjoyed whilst snuggling.
