What's Your Favicon?

I don't know about you, but blogging seems like an alternate universe where only people who understand that tiny robot computer code have an advantage. Thankfully some awesome person created Google (Note to self: find out who created Google so you can stop referring to them as "Mr. Google") and  made learning WAY easier than hauling out the old Encyclopedia Britannica and getting 400 paper cuts.

For years weeks I've been trying to figure out how people got those adorable little icons next to their blog name:

Instead of the default blog icon that my blog was rockin' - hard till about 20 minutes ago:

The answer? - Favicon (short for 'favorites icon'), little icons associated with a particular website or webpage, shown next to the site's name in the URL bar of most browsers. Duh. Everyone with a kindergarten education seems to know that tidbit except me apparently...

Here's how it's done:

1.) Scurry on over to  http://www.genfavicon.com/ (go ahead, I'll wait)
2.) Select your image (whatever photo represents your blog and tickles your fancy)
3.) Click "upload image"
4.) Select favicon size (I went with 32x32)
5.) Click "Capture & Preview"
6.) Save your work to your computer (a folder labeled "<insert blog name here>" perhaps?)
7.) Go to your blog (I have blogger, the following steps may different slightly for others)
8.) Go to "Layout"
9.) Click "Edit" on the Favicon box (upper Left hand corner of page)
10.) Upload favicon saved in Step #6

Boom. You just got favicon'ed. Your welcome.

Now tap dance your way on over to the above mentioned blogs - I stalk them like a J.Crew sale with an additional 30% off...
